Lots of Haikus to Inspire You
Every so often, I compile posts of haikus because they resonate. After writing “20 Haikus to Inspire You,” I thought I’d start a little tradition of sharing haiku posts every so often.
I continue to write daily haikus to inspire. They are fun to do after my morning meditation. Below I share some of the most-favorited on my Twitter account.
Ways to use these haikus
First, you can print them. They are sized for the web, however. Just be aware of possible pixelation.
Second, you can use them as a writing prompt in your journal. Seventeen syllables of words leave a lot of room for interpretation, idea-formation and contemplation.
Third, you can use them as a meditation. If you meditate, you can read one as you head into your meditation and contemplate the meaning. Or you can contemplate the image. As you do that, you can imagine the image getting closer and bigger until you are “one” with it, and you are in “no space.” You could do the same with the words, too.
If you like haikus and feel inspired, take a took at some other posts I’ve written about this short poetry form. Enjoy!

Just what I needed on the quiet Monday morning before all in my family wake. So, truly perfect timing and thanks for the inspiration first thing this new week. Many hugs and hoping you are enjoying your summer and this week so far, my friend <3 <3 <3
Janine – thank YOU for always inspiring me with your sweet and uplifting comments. I hope you have really had a great summer. The Disney trip sounded great, even if you were recovering from being ill. Time really flies, doesn’t it? Always have to remember to enjoy the moment. 🙂 Sending you BIG HUGS!
The haikus were a treat; the photos were a lovely bonus. I hope your schooling is going well, Lil Sis. We are sitting in our own sweat here in Olympia, and dreaming of clouds. 🙂 Hugs from Oly!
While you had that heat, I had the high desert heat. At least in Sedona, it was usually around 90-95 degrees during the day. But after the retreat when we drove down to Tucson for a day, WOWZA. The car registered the highest I’ve ever seen: 117 degrees!! I decided that living in the desert was unnatural at best and not for me. lol. But it was still wonderful to experience. 🙂
Lovely images and haikus Cynthia. Thank you!
Thank you, dear Brad. Always! I hope you’ve had a good couple of weeks!
I never thought of using haikus as meditation! Great idea 🙂 And I love the images you share on Twitter with the poetic words within them; nice to see a collection of them here. Have a great inspiring weekend <3
Christy – thank you so much, sweet friend! Yeah, sometimes I’ll read a poem and then head into meditation and just go in with a bit of “open awareness” – in that I focus on my breathing and let whatever comes into my consciousness come, and then I release it and focus back on my breathing. I love it. 🙂 Thank you for all your inspirations, too. And for your sweet comments.
Aaah yay, just what I needed to read today. I LOVE these haikus you create; they are beautiful – the words and images. Peace… that’s what I felt reading your blog. Hope you’re having a wonderful, insightful and wholehearted trip my friend! Catch up soon xxx
Sweet Melanie! Thank you for coming over! xoxo Thank you for your feedback on the haikus. I really enjoy finding the images to go with them. Though I’ve been home for several days, I haven’t started writing new ones, yet, while I decide what to try to do. Hehe. I’m so glad you felt peace. It was a good trip and I learned so much! Can’t wait to catch up! xoxo
Like you, this post is a keeper, dear Cynthia.
Would you ever think of doing a hard copy of these haikus – like from CreateSpace.
I know I would love a copy for me and some friends who’d also appreciate and
treasure.
Love you and big hugs, Maria
Mar – hehe, I’m so glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
Hard copy…yes. I would. Several folks have asked. The only thing that I’m worried about is the photos. They’re all creative commons and I have the right to use them, but I don’t know any of the artists – pablo.buffer.com where I create them doesn’t automatically include their names. And I have felt funny about using others’ work to profit, even if I do have the rights to…I thought about acknowledging them via buffer or perhaps donating half the profits to creativecommons.org to help compensate for the work that I’m using…but eh…I just haven’t totally known what to do there. I’ve thought about asking a lawyer, but then I think well…by the time I do that, I could just compile a book of haikus and add MY OWN drawings to them. lol
But I have other plans, too. My meditation teacher suggested that I make a card deck (not a tarot deck) of inspiration where one side is a mandala and the other is a haiku – with an accompanying explanation or a little book as explanation. I met an artist who did something similar while I was in Sedona and encouraged me to do something like that. So. Many. Ideas. LOL.
In any case, thank you for your thoughts and encouragement. I so love them!! xoxo (PS – I’m still checking your site. I want to return the favor…but maybe it’ll be in another way, like a “Mar discount” at my first retreat! Hehe.)
Sending you big hugs! xoxo
